It was while enjoying Hokum-On-Somble at a Sydney pub that the idea of forming Piranha Brothers Records came about. The band were pulling big crowds in Sydney’s inner 
western suburbs, with a remarkable combination of humour and musicianship. The slickest of Australia’s jug bands, Hokum went into Airbourne Studios in February 1979 and recorded the EP, ‘Take Away Chinese Ragtime Vol. 3’ It met with considerable success and inspired Piranha Brothers to try recording more local artists.
